Advices about automobile exchange
Here are some recommendations to get the best out of your automobile exchange:
» Tell your assurance that you will lend your vehicle to friends and let them confirm that your correspondents will benefit from the guarantees of your contract during the exchange.
» If you lend a vehicle, ask about the possible consequences of an accident during your trip.
» You can sign an agreement stating that the driver of each vehicle is responsible for accidents up to the policy excess. Think to provide details of your insurance and your car in case of accident or breakdown.
» Find an agreement about the vehicle(s) exchanged and provide a complete description of the vehicle about its condition at the time of the lending (with photos to prove it) to avoid any dispute when returning the vehicle.
» Find an agreement about the person(s) who are allowed to drive the vehicle and provide all relevant details about the person (age, number of years with licence, type of licence).
» Agree on a time and a place to get the vehicle back (usually the airport or station) on the departure and arrival. Remember to leave the route to get to your home in your vehicle.
» Agree on a limit mileage.
» Find an agreement about filling up the tank: given full on departure and re-filled by your correspondent when leaving , or your correspondent must fill it up when arriving and leave it as it is when leaving.
» If possible, consider leaving a road map in the vehicle.
» If you have a adapted vehicle, remember to specify the equipment or adaptations related to your disability.
» All the elements covered by an agreement between the two parties exchanging their vehicle must be written in your exchange agreement in order to avoid any misunderstanding later. There will be 3 copies of this agreement, one for each party sharing their vehicle and one for Elsa service.
